83rd Annual Academy Awards Governors Ball - February 27, 2011

This year’s Governors Ball blended the Hollywood music of the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s with the inspired décor of such eclectic clubs as the Rainbow Room and the El Macambo. The ballroom featured an observatory domed ceiling treatment, made of circular trusses, concentrically designed, and lit in rainbow colored hues. Layered along these trusses, were aluminum palm fronds that form an elegant draped umbrella effect over the center ball. The design itself became a moving, living element that transformed itself throughout the evening.
