A happy Julio Vera, the Academy's Museum Collections Manager, takes possession of a pair of Ruby Slippers on January 31, 2012. With him can be seen archivist Michelle Fandetti and a staff member. The photo was taken by Joe Maddalena at Profiles in History, Calabasas, California. "The Witch's Shoes" as this pair are known, are the most well-preserved pair of Ruby Slippers known to exist, and are the shoes seen when Dorothy, played by Judy Garland, clicks her heels in the movie THE WIZARD OF OZ.
