With her win for Best Original Screenplay for LOST IN TRANSLATION in 2004, Sofia Coppola became the third generation of Copppola to win an Oscar. Her father Francis Ford Coppola received his first Academy Award in 1971 for Original Screenplay (PATTON), and her grandfather Carmine Coppola won for Original Dramatic Score (THE GODFATHER PART II) in 1975.
The only other family with three generations of Oscar winners are the Hustons.
