Woody Allen has received the most Oscar nominations for writing at 15. He took home the statue three times for ANNIE HALL, HANNAH AND HER SISTERS, and MIDNIGHT IN PARIS. Allen also won a best directing Oscar for Annie Hall. 

Other writers with three writing wins include Charles Brackett (THE LOST WEEKEND, TITANIC [1953], SUNSET BLVD.), Paddy Chayefsky (MARTY, THE HOSPITAL, NETWORK), Francis Ford Coppola (PATTON, THE GODFATHER, THE GODFATHER II), and William Wilder (THE LOST WEEKEND, SUNSET BLVD., THE APARTMENT).
