Movie of the Day - Lincoln

  • By Oscar Insider

The anticipation is building as we approach Oscar Sunday. If you haven’t seen all of the films nominated for Best Picture, there’s still time. Want to know more about each movie before filling out your My Picks Ballot? We can help you!

Each day, we’ll take a deeper dive into the nine films nominated for Best Picture.

LINCOLN is nominated for 12 categories, including Actor in a Supporting Role (Nominee: Tommy Lee Jones), Production Design (Nominee: Rick Carter and Jim Erickson) and Sound Mixing (Nominee: Andy Nelson, Gary Rydstrom and Ronald Judkins). With the Civil War coming to a close and the freedom granted to the slaves by the Emancipation Proclamation called into question, Abraham Lincoln seeks to pass a thirteenth amendment to the Constitution that will outlaw slavery everywhere in the United States.  Facing opposition from many quarters in Congress, Lincoln uses his vast political powers to gain allies in his fight.
