Weekly Oscar Roundup: Live 'Oscar Concert' Announced

The Academy will present the first ever live “Oscar Concert” celebrating this year’s nominated scores and songs on Thursday, February 27 in Los Angeles. The concert will feature an 80-piece orchestra performing pieces from each of the nominated original scores. They include: William Butler and Owen Pallett for HER, Alexandre Desplat for PHILOMENA, Thomas Newman for SAVING MR. BANKS, Steven Price for GRAVITY and John Williams for THE BOOK THIEF.

In addition, attendees can expect to hear this year’s nominated songs including: “Let It Go” from FROZEN, performed by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, and “Happy” from DESPICABLE ME 2, performed by Jill Scott.

The Academy is also in final preparations for its Scientific and Technical Awards ceremony, which is happening tomorrow. For more information on this event, click HERE.
