Best Picture Closeup: Nebraska

  • By Stephanie Wenger

In the fourth installment of the video series Best Picture Closeup, Oscar.com is giving you a closer look at the making of NEBRASKA. The stars of the film - including Best Actor nominee Bruce Dern, Best Supporting Actress nominee June Squibb and Will Forte - spoke at an Academy member screening about developing their characters and finding truth in their performances.

NEBRASKA director Alexander Payne was also in attendance at the screening. He talked about working with both veteran actors and casting people from local community theaters, as well as individuals with little or no acting experience before his movie.

The film tells the story of an aging father, played by Dern, who is mending his relationship with his son, played by Forte, while on a road trip from Montana to Nebraska. His true goal: to claim the million-dollar Mega Sweepstakes Marketing prize.
