Actors Kristen Bell and Michael B. Jordan have been named the hosts of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Scientific and Technical Awards. During the February 15 event, the Academy will present 19 awards to more than 50 individual recipients that have made profound discoveries or innovations in the film industry.
“We are thrilled to have Kristen and Michael join us as hosts for this year’s Sci-Tech Awards,” said Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs. “They are bright, young talents in the film community and will be a great addition to a night that honors the industry’s technical achievements.”
Bell most recently lent her voice to the Oscar-nominated Disney animated feature FROZEN and will next be seen in VERONICA MARS. Jordon starred in FRUITVALE STATION and joins Zac Efron and Miles Teller in THAT AWKWARD MOMENT out in theaters today.
Portions of the Scientific and Technical Awards will be included in the Oscar broadcast airing Sunday, March 2, at 7e l 4p on ABC and online at oscar.go.com.
In addition, the Academy is mourning the loss of their beloved former president Tom Sherak, who passed away following a long battle with prostate cancer on January 28.
