When the new Academy Museum of Motion Pictures opens its doors in 2017, it will be a must-see destination for movie fans. Before the Museum welcomes visitors, Oscar.com is giving you a preview of a few pieces from the Academy's collections. In the production still above, Christian Bale, dressed as his character, Batman, prepares to shoot a scene for THE DARK KNIGHT.

In director Christopher Nolan's take on Bob Kane's DC Comics series, Batman battles the Joker, played by the late Heath Ledger, to save the people of Gotham City. THE DARK KNIGHT won two Oscars, including a posthumous award for Ledger. It also received six nominations in other categories for the 2008 Oscars. Check back on Oscar.com to see more memorabilia from the Academy Collections.
