As the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences prepares to open its new Academy Museum in 2017, Oscar.com is pulling back the curtain to give you a look at a few of the artifacts that may be on display. In this photograph, Hollywood icon James Dean is dressed as his GIANT character, Jett Rink, for a Warner Bros. Studios wardrobe test.
GIANT, the story of rivalry between a Texas rancher and a cowboy who becomes an oil tycoon, won the 1956 Oscar for Best Director for George Stevens. It was also nominated in nine other categories, including a posthumous nomination for Dean. Visit Oscar.com to see more artifacts from the Academy Collections.
