The new Academy Museum of Motion Pictures will be housed in the landmark Wilshire May Company building at the corner of Wilshire and Fairfax next to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. It will join Los Angeles’ famed Museum Row in 2017. For those movie fans who can’t wait, Oscar.com is giving you a chance to look at a few pieces that may be featured in its exhibits as part of the overall interactive experience. This drawing shows a gown created especially for Oscar-nominated actress Jean Simmons by famed costume designer Michael Woulfe.

Woulfe worked at RKO Pictures, where he designed costumes for films including CLASH BY NIGHT, THE FRENCH LINE and THE CONQUEROR. In addition to his film work, he was responsible for creating personal wardrobes for Simmons, Judy Garland and Jane Russell, as well as designing the employee uniforms for four Las Vegas hotels and casinos owned by Howard Hughes. He also designed costumes for the Las Vegas shows of Debbie Reynolds, Lena Horne and Joey Heatherton.
