Plans for the new Academy Museum of Motion Pictures are taking shape with an expected opening in 2017. The museum will house exhibits about the art of making films and the history of movies, allowing visitors to experience the medium in a new and immersive way. Before its opening, Oscar.com is giving you a sneak peak of some of the special items you will find as part of the Museum's exhibitions. This photograph shows famed comedian Harpo Marx’s trunk of props.

With his clown-influenced brand of comedy, Marx used many of these props to surprise audiences. The trunk was donated by Marx’s son, Bill, who also served as his father’s prop man. Upon arrival at the Academy, all of the props were packed just as they had been following Marx’s final performance. Don’t forget to visit Oscar.com to see more artifacts from the Academy Collections.
